Entry Level Marketing - Agency Relationship Specialist

Concord, CA

 

Job Description

Union General is looking for an enthusiastic teammate to join the highly competitive and prestigious “50/50 Program,” in partnership with USLI (a Berkshire Hathaway Company), to kick-start their career in Insurance. Candidates will be engaged in a 24-month training and development program that will prepare the participant to become a superior insurance professional. The focus of the training program will be to develop habits and routines that lead to increasing new insurance submissions, building valuable relationships at every level, and raising awareness to the Union General/USLI brands. By the end of the program, candidate will be an expert in phone and web quote marketing to already established and appointed, independent insurance agents.  

 

Each participant is paired with two experienced salespeople who act as their leaders and mentors and are dedicated to their success. Participants receive intensive, hands-on training and are challenged each day to develop superior sales habits that will prepare them for long-term success in and out of the insurance industry. Candidates should be prepared for a challenge, as the training program is rigorous but equally rewarding for those who complete it.

 

The geographic territory will primarily be California with potential attention given to bordering states (Oregon, Nevada, Washington). This position will combine virtual and in-person visits as a requirement so extensive travel could open up depending on state restrictions. A minimum of 20 agency visits (combining virtual and in-person) will eventually be reached and maintained throughout the program.

  

Job Responsibilities

Increasing new submissions, quotes and premium by performing the following: 

  • Conduct at least 20 meetings per week with customers (in person or via video) to demonstrate web and phone quoting capabilities and register new users in order to drive new   business submissions in the door.  
  • Weekly reporting of sales meetings that occurred each week and the forecasting of meetings scheduled for the upcoming week(s). 
  • Timely follow up and continuous communication with customers to discover opportunities. 
  • Systematic prospecting and arranging meetings with potential new customers, and with customers that have not yet reached their potential.  
  • Identify and establish a relationship with the key contacts making sure we are doing business with the right people in each retail operation. 
  • Work with their team to review web activity to spot trends that may need attention.
  • Establish an active relationship with Regional Sales Manager and regularly discuss strategy and tactics including sales issues, travel and follow up. 
  • Pursue continuing education and insurance designations/licenses as outlined in the training and development plan. This will require self-study. 

 

Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and either very little or no employment in the insurance industry
  • Candidates will be expected to pursue continuing education and insurance designations/licenses as outlined in the training and development plan. This will require self-study. 
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, networking and relationship ability, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment 
  • Open to coaching and continuous improvement

Entry Level Marketing – Internal Sales Specialist

This is a hunter sales role requiring the individual to conduct numerous outbound calls each day and drive new business by asking questions, converting leads into submissions and educating customers on quoting platforms and services. The inside sales specialist will spend 80 percent of their time on the phone with customers and be measured by the number of sales calls they make as well as the results of these efforts.

 

The geographic territory will primarily be California with additional focus given to other western states (Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, and Washington). A minimum of 50 outbound calls per day will eventually be reached and maintained throughout the program.

  

Job Responsibilities

Increasing new submissions, quotes and premium by performing the following: 

  • Conduct 50 of outbound calls a day to appointed retail agents to drive new opportunities in, convert leads into submissions and turn quotes into bind orders. Weekly reporting of sales calls and results is expected.
  • Educate customers on quoting platforms and services
  • Contribute to other outbound marketing efforts including social media, webinars and email blasts.
    • Produce more effective email blast campaigns with the best, most relevant content to the right customer audience. Responsible for 2-4 email blasts per month.
    • Contribute ideas for social media posts – 3-5 per week
    • Conduct a monthly webinar
    • Help coordinate customer events and contests as appropriate
  • Drive daily submissions goals and relay information to marketing team to maximize opportunities.
  • Review web and phone quoting activity to spot trends positive and negative and address trends with customers and team.
  • Establish an active relationship with Regional Sales Manager and regularly discuss strategy and tactics including training, sales issues and follow up.
